WE'RE LAUNCHING SOMETHING VERY SPECIAL!
For the last five months we've been working on some new software that will present some significant savings to high-profile accounts that ship more than 10 parcels per day. We're very excited about it and we think you will be too. |
 |
|
Essentially, the new software we have is PSM with even more functionality. And the results we have achieved since a recent 'soft launch' have been fantastic. Our new software platform has been christened 'Shipping Manager Direct' or 'SMD'.
We believe SMD is totally unique and that there is nothing else like it in the online courier marketplace. It neatly fills a gap that had developed in our service offering - above P4D and PSM - and is the result of us going away and negotiating with the carriers for sub-accounts.
For any client shipping a minimum of 200 parcels per month, we can now offer them competitive rates against any other major carrier - and allow them to ship parcels that are even bigger.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF SMD?
It's easy to use The software offers a rapid booking facility It can fully integrate with all of the major shopping carts - including Ebay It ensures competitive rates are achieved It is a web-based application - not computer specific It guarantees regular connections It provides excellent parcel tracking and management functionality It is an invoice-based system - no more pay as you go
The combination of new low rates, scheduled daily connections and proven technology has given us an unbeatable product!

GOOD THINGS COME IN BIG PACKAGES
We are great pals with all of our carriers, and if there is a way that we can negotiate to get you, the customer, a better deal, we will.
With our DHL UK service you were previously restricted to only sending parcels that had a maximum length dimension of 120cms. Well, that's all changed now.
The 120cm rule has now been abolished for all P4D customers and replaced with a maximum length rule of 150cm. In short, that means you can send bigger parcels for no extra expense. Great news, eh?

TAKE CARE WHEN MEASURING YOUR PARTICULARS
For customers shipping with the DHL UK service, there are a couple of important things you should remember in 2009.
The volumetric weight of parcels is now calculated in meters cubed (m3) and the maximum size of each parcel should not exceed 0.23m3. The old volumetric calculator of width x length x depth divided by 6000 is history.
|
 |
So, how do you work out the volumetric weight of your parcel now? It's really easy. Just convert your centimetre measurements to metres and then multiply them together.
For example, a parcel measuring 40cm x 50cm x 50cm is now calculated as 0.4 x 0.5 x 0.5 = 0.1m3. And remember, each parcel should weigh no more than 30kgs!

ONE LAST THING...
Despite some changes to the parcel dimension and cubic measurement criteria, we think getting your shipments ready for collection will be as easy as it's always been this year.
But to avoid any unexpected surprises, we're urging all of our clients to invest in a sturdy tape measure and some accurate scales.
DHL has said it will be applying a minimum surcharge of £50 to every parcel that has either an under-declared weight or dimensions in 2009. |

AWARD SUCCESS FOR P4D'S KERRIE
P4D's commitment to employing the highest caliber staff has been recognised after customer service manager Kerrie Clifton was named as one the UK's top-five most valued employees in a prestigious national competition.
Kerrie has worked at P4D since 2005 and her award success has come in Brother UK's 'Office Heroes' competition.
|
 |
Judged by a panel of young British entrepreneurs, Office Heroes aims to recognise the most dedicated and hard working employees across the UK's small business community.
Kerrie beat off competition from 200 other entries to be named in the final top-five. She said: "It was a huge surprise because I didn't have a clue I was being entered into any kind of competition, but it certainly made me feel proud."

AND FINALLY...
Managing director, Stephen Abel, will be passing on his business advice to the entrepreneurs of the future next month when he is the keynote speaker at the Banbury Young Enterprise Area Finals.
He said: "When I was starting out in business I went to all sorts of people for advice and guidance. If I can give any of the kids at Young Enterprise any shred of advice or inspiration to go forward and make their business dreams come true, I'm only too pleased to help out."

I hope you're as excited about SMD as we are! If you'd like any further information or have any questions, we'd be delighted to hear from you. Just drop us a line by emailing us at sales@shippingmanager.co.uk
