The Post Office Track And Trace Service

Post Office Track and Trace is a service for tracking both mail and parcels through the Post Office network, via a barcode tracking number. It applies to both Parcelforce Worldwide services and the Royal Mail services of Special Delivery, Airsure, International Signed For and Recorded. (The latter is only tracked once delivered. International Signed For Services and Royal Mail Airsure services are tracked to the point of leaving the UK for international dispatch.)

    This is a documents service for papers only. Your documents must weigh 1.5kg or less when packaged and be 40cm x 30cm x 5cm or smaller in size.

    Package your documents in a cardboard envelope, not paper, so they can withstand transportation within a large courier network (?). Measure the dimensions for your envelope in the same way as you would measure a parcel, using 1cm for anything less than 1cm in size.

    The two-man service is not suitable for one-off bookings, but is a flexible and affordable service for any business regularly shipping bulky items that can't be shipped via a pallet service. Two Yodel XL couriers arrive to lift your items in to the van safely and securely, and upon delivery can assist with installation or other specialist requirements.     If you ship regularly, you'll always be looking for the most affordable shipping service you can find, but this doesn't mean it should be cheap: service is just as important, as is customer support when you need it.     The more you ship, the more you'll save with cheaper rates for higher volumes, regular collection if you need it, plus integration for your online shop to streamline your delivery process.     Post Office Track and Trace Special Delivery

    To use the Post Office Track and Trace service, the customer enters their unique tracking reference which can be found on their documentation or be provided by the sender. From this, the Royal Mail will advise on the item's delivery progress.

    Send a Parcel

    Tracking numbers are found on proof of posting receipts for Royal Mail items and for parcels awaiting receipt, the sender needs to supply the tracking number. If there are any problems with the tracking number, Royal Mail advise re-entering it into their web-based system without spaces and they provide a contact number if there are further problems.

    Courier Services

    There are occasions where a parcel's status cannot be determined and this is down to reasons such as mis-keyed tracking numbers and some overseas deliveries where tracking is not carried out in the same way. Parcels sent prior to four and a half months previous will no longer be registered on the system.

    Proof of Delivery is required from package recipients when deliveries are made through the service and this is usually carried out by digital signature capture devices. Where this is not possible, hard copy signatures will be captured and held by Royal Mail in case of future queries or claims.

    P4D offer a similar service for most of their courier services. An order number is provided with the confirmation and the parcel can be tracked on the P4D website. Where any difficulties are experienced, the customer service team will track the parcel and update you.
