Stephen Abel recently scooped a ‘Young Guns
2008’ national award for his leadership and
the growth recorded by his two Banbury-based
businesses: Parcels 4 Delivery and Parcel
Shipping Manager.
While celebrating his success with family
and friends at a local restaurant, Abel
decided he would share his joy by donating a
cheque for £1000 to Katherine House – the
hospice that provides invaluable care and
support to people with terminal illnesses.
“Having good health has enabled me to fulfil
my ambitions in life and business, but I’m
also acutely aware that there are a lot of
people in the local community that are not
as fortunate and are suffering at the hands
of terminal illness,” Abel said.
“My father in-law received some fantastic
care and support from the Macmillan nurses
during his final days and I really wanted to
give something back through Katherine House.
The work that all the staff do is incredible
and I’m pleased I can offer my support.”
Sarah Bidwell, fundraising co-ordinator at
Katherine House, received a cheque from Abel
on Wednesday. She said: “Our specialist
palliative care services include in-patient,
day centre, out-patient, Macmillan community
nurses and bereavement support. This all
comes at quite a cost to us so we are
thrilled when someone like Stephen comes
along and kindly makes a donation to our
funds.
“His financial support will not only help us
to continue welcoming patients to the
hospice but it will also ensure that the
patients and their families are comfortable
and fully supported when they need to be.
That is an invaluable gift to be able to
offer.”
