Yodel is one of the newest parcel delivery networks having formed in 2010, although its origins go back much further than this. Yodel was formed as a merger of the Home Delivery Network (HDN) and Parcelpoint Ltd (part of DHL Express (UK) Ltd).
As Yodel formed they wanted to do things differently to other established parcel delivery networks. Utilising online parcel delivery arrangements and the power of the Internet, they hoped to start what they describe as an “online revolution” in the parcel delivery industry
Recognising a need to make use of new technologies, not only online, but also offline and out on the road, Yodel strives to revolutionise the parcel delivery industry with a new ambition and new technology that is modern and pioneering.
P4D runs a carbon offsetting scheme at the checkout and we find that many of our customers appreciate the opportunity to reduce their carbon footprint, especially as it's usually only a matter of pence to join in. We plant new trees with the money we raise and support green-thinking from the couriers we work in partnership with.
As part of their revolution, Yodel is also keen to address concerns around environmental issues. They have employed an Energy Manager and formed a Corporate Social Responsibility Board to address these concerns and monitor progress.
Yodel now uses some fuel-efficient vans, aerodynamic trailers, and is replenishing their fleet with more efficient modes of transport. They are also reducing overall waste, as well as recycling the waste they do have, and conserving water.
