In 1958 KW Transport in Australia became Thomas Nationwide Transport, now known as TNT. This courier network has been in the business for a very long time. To this day they still have a strong TNT domestic delivery service within Australia, but their international parcel delivery services are now also focused on Europe, Asia, North and South America.Parcel delivery services UKTNT is said to have introduced Britain’s first Next Day delivery service in 1980, which operated nationwide as a door-to-door service. In 1982 TNT claims to be the first to introduce Same Day delivery services.Parcel delivery technologiesTNT courier services are supported by sophisticated technology to allow real-time tracking of parcel deliveries. Their state-of-the-art track and trace facility means parcel tracking can be activated on any number of technological devices, from computers and tablets, to smartphones.TNT courier: growth and changeTNT has grown organically (not through acquisition) and, at the time of writing, is said to turn over £800m.TNT Mail is separate to TNT Express Services UK & Ireland, which is part of TNT Express NV.TNT awards TNT, to date, has won 30 Motor Transport Awards, which are prestigious awards in the UK for the transportation industry. In 2000 they won The Queen’s Award for Enterprise (Innovation), an impressive accolade.TNT charitable endeavoursTNT is not just a parcel delivery specialist and well-established operator within the courier industry; it has also raised millions of pounds for charity as a philanthropic business. TNT is the largest benefactor for its chosen charity and is a great support for increased press coverage for worthwhile causes.In 2012 P4D worked with TNT to support the BBC Children in Need appeal. P4D runs a carbon offsetting scheme at the checkout and we find that many of our customers appreciate the opportunity to reduce their carbon footprint, especially as it's usually only a matter of pence to join in. We plant new trees with the money we raise and support green-thinking from the couriers we work in partnership with. TNT has taken great steps to reduce their carbon footprint. They have in place an Environmental Management System to manage their performance in this area and have adopted the ISO14001 standard to identify and manage any risk to the environment.TNT monitors their emissions with an aim to reduce them; they use sustainable sources for products and actively recycle waste. TNT claims to have the largest fleet of zero emission vehicles in the Express delivery sector and has been rewarded for their efforts with a listing in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, which they have now held for a number of years.Website: www.tnt.com
