How does parcel delivery work with P4D?

Sending a parcel couldn’t be simpler with us. Just use the quote generator at the top of the page to input your parcel requirements and personal details. We need to know where the package is being collected from and where it’s going, along with the exact dimensions and weight to give you an accurate price.

Once this is done, you’ll be able to choose your preferred courier. We work with hundreds of partners all over the world to ensure you have maximum flexibility when it comes to sending your parcel. This includes next-day and express options, with the ability to collect from your home. After you’ve selected your courier you’ll pay for the delivery – then it’s a case of sitting back and waiting for collection. It’s really that easy!

How long does parcel delivery take?

For parcel deliveries within the UK, delivery can take up to 4 working days with a standard courier service. However, we do offer select express and next-day delivery options if you need to get your goods moving quickly. This means you could have your parcel collected and delivered on the same day!

For European and international parcel deliveries, you’re looking at a time of several days depending on the destination. Of course, the further your parcel needs to go, the longer it can take.

How to track parcel deliveries

All you need to track your delivery when you send a parcel with P4D is your order number. This will be sent to you along with the confirmation that your parcel delivery is underway. Once you have this, all you need to do is input the number into our bespoke parcel tracking application and you’ll have complete transparency about your delivery. This can be tracked 24/7, 365 days a year, from Point A to Point B.

How is my parcel handled in transit?

Your parcel will pass from articulated lorries to vans, through conveyor belts and down chutes. It will be lifted, slid from trays, and may be transported around depots in a metal cage. It is also handled by sorting staff as it progresses between sorting depots up and down the country, diverted in to the correct pathways for its destination like a ball in a pinball machine.

A courier delivery network is therefore not suitable for fragile items like glass, or valuables that are on the prohibited list and that may benefit from a more personal service. It is designed for well-packaged, clearly-labelled items that need to reach their destination quickly and with a proof of delivery.

Do I need a large parcel service?

Any parcels over 30kg, longer than 2.5m, or with a combined length and girth over 5m should be sent with the Parcelforce Large service.

Parcels are scanned at the depot and the size and weight checked. If large parcels are booked onto the standard Parcelforce service, a surcharge of £45 + VAT is issued and you are liable to pay this on top of the delivery fee.

To avoid incurring any unexpected surcharges, we recommend that any parcels approaching the dimension thresholds are sent on theParcelforce Large service.

Are EU countries exempt from documentation and Customs?

Prior to the withdrawal of the UK from the European Union, sending your parcels to countries within the EU was exempt from additional charges and documentation.

The recent changes mean that whilst sending to the EU is still straightforward, there are a few extra pieces of information that we require in order for your parcel to be delivered without delay.

Thankfully, P4D has taken the hassle out of creating the documentation required. We simply ask a few more questions about the sender, the recipient and the goods being delivered, and complete the commercial invoice for you to review and include with your delivery.

Please also note, it’s extremely important to check the recipients details as well as providing a local mobile phone number for the recipient should they need to be contacted about the delivery.

When can I Drop Off my parcel?

Any time!

The beauty of these services is that you are able to Drop Off your parcel at your convenience. Simply affix a label, provided in your confirmation email, and bring it to your selected courier's local facility.
